FAQs

Common questions

My consumer unit keeps tripping — what should I do?

Try switching off all appliances on the affected circuit and reset the RCD or MCB. If it trips again immediately or won't reset at all, stop and call us — it means there's a fault on the circuit that needs finding before it's safe to use. Call 07734 068443.

Is a tripped consumer unit dangerous?

The trip itself is a safety mechanism working correctly. The danger is what caused it — a faulty appliance, damaged wiring, or a more serious electrical fault. If you can't identify the cause quickly, treat it as an emergency and call a qualified electrician.

I can smell burning from a socket or switch — what do I do?

Turn off the power at the consumer unit immediately and do not use that socket or switch. A burning smell means there is heat being generated inside the fitting — this can cause a fire. Call us straight away.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

We agree a fixed price before any work starts. You know the cost upfront — no hidden extras on the bill.

Are your electricians qualified?

Yes. All electrical work is carried out by our fully qualified in-house electricians and is tested and certificated on completion.
